FAQ

Questions about Joya

Short answers about how Joya, VYBs, and the first launch in Mainz will work.

General

What is Joya?

Joya is a new social platform that turns the wish to do something into real-life meetups.

What is a VYB?

A VYB is a real-life meetup with 3 to 6 people who want to do something similar at the same time. For example coffee, a walk, food, a sunset, or a casual evening out.

Is Joya a dating app?

No. Joya is not built as a dating app. It is about meeting people in real life, doing something together, and making social moments easier to happen.

Where is Joya launching first?

Joya is launching city by city. The first VYBs are planned for Mainz.

VYBs

How does a VYB work?

You create a VYB request and say what you feel like doing and when you are available. Joya then tries to form a fitting small group and suggest a suitable meeting place.

Do I have to plan the meetup myself?

No. That is exactly what Joya is designed to make easier. You do not need to start a group chat, message people one by one, or organise everything yourself.

Can I join alone?

Yes. Joya is built so you can easily step into real-life social moments, even when you are starting alone.

Will every request become a VYB?

Not always. A VYB depends on whether enough fitting people nearby are available at the right time and want to do something similar.

Safety and Launch

Where do VYBs take place?

VYBs take place in public places. For example cafés, bars, parks, or other locations that fit the situation.

Are VYBs safe?

Safety is a central part of Joya. VYBs are designed as small group meetups in public places. You are not meeting just one random stranger, and you can always leave if you do not feel comfortable.

Does Joya cost anything?

Joya is free at launch. Our first priority is to understand which VYBs people actually use and how we can make the real-life meetups as good as possible.
