Community Guidelines

Our core idea

Joya brings people together in real life. For that to work, it takes trust, respect, and a shared understanding of how we treat each other.

These Guidelines apply to the use of Joya, including chats, VYBs, and all real-world meetups that happen through Joya.

1. Show up with respect

Treat other people with openness, friendliness, and respect.

No insults. No dismissiveness. No discrimination. No behaviour that makes others feel small, excluded, or pressured.

2. Respect boundaries

A VYB is a social meetup, not an entitlement to closeness, attention, or further contact.

Unwanted flirting, physical closeness without consent, sexualised comments, pressure, or repeated contact do not belong on Joya.

If someone wants distance, accept that immediately.

3. Be honest

Use Joya as yourself. No false identities, no deliberately misleading information, and no using an account on behalf of another person.

Joya is exclusively for people aged 18 and over. By using Joya, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

4. Be reliable

When you confirm a VYB, other people are counting on you.

Only join if you genuinely intend to come. Cancel as early as possible if you cannot make it. Respect other people’s time.

Joya exists to create real moments. That only works when commitments mean something.

5. Keep Joya safe

Not permitted: harassment, threats, violence, stalking, bullying, discrimination, fraud, spam, unauthorised advertising, or illegal content.

Joya is not a dating app. Of course people may find each other likeable, but VYBs are social moments, not dates. We are explicitly not a dating platform.

6. Protect the privacy of others

Do not share private information about other users without their consent. This includes phone numbers, addresses, private profiles, screenshots, photos, videos, or information about VYBs and participants.

If you want to take photos or videos at a meetup, ask first.

7. Report, block, and get help

If you feel uncomfortable, are treated inappropriately, or notice a rule violation, you can report or block users.

We review reports and may take action, for example warnings, restrictions, removal of content, suspension, or deletion of an account.

In cases of immediate danger or emergency, please contact the local authorities or emergency services immediately. Joya does not replace police, emergency services, or public authorities.

Our goal

Joya exists to make real social encounters easier.

That takes people who are open, but not pushy. Reliable, but not controlling. Curious, but respectful.

Show up in a way that makes others glad you were there.
